Former UFC Title Challenger Calls it a Career

MacDonald's Wife Reveals Retirement Decision

Rory MacDonald has decided to retire from MMA, according to a post on his wife's Instagram account. The former UFC title challenger announced his decision less than 24 hours after suffering a submission loss to Dilano Taylor at PFL 10.

MacDonald's wife, Kelsie MacDonald, wrote in her post that Rory "has decided to hang up his gloves and retire from MMA." She added that Rory is "happy and healthy and looking forward to the next chapter in his life."

MacDonald, 33, is one of the most accomplished welterweights in MMA history. He challenged for the UFC welterweight title in 2015, losing to Robbie Lawler in a Fight of the Year. MacDonald also won the Bellator welterweight title in 2019, but lost it to Gegard Mousasi in his next fight.
