The Netherlands, inspired by a brilliant spell of bowling from Paul van Meekeren, dismissed Bangladesh for 142 in the 28th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Van Meekeren took 4-23, while skipper Scott Edwards made a crucial 68 as the Dutch recovered from a poor start to post a respectable total.

Bangladesh started brightly, with Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan putting on 50 for the first wicket. However, van Meekeren struck twice in quick succession to remove both openers, and the Dutch never looked back. The rest of the Bangladesh batting order crumbled, with only Mushfiqur Rahim (38) and Mahmudullah (32) offering any resistance.

The Netherlands' victory keeps their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive. They will now face South Africa in their next match, while Bangladesh will play India. A win for either team would put them in a strong position to progress to the knockout stages.
